Job Summary
As a Horticulture Executive, you will be responsible for overseeing horticulture operations across Rainforest Wild Asia and other parts of Mandai Wildlife Reserve. You will guide officers and contractors, manage daily operations, review landscape proposals, and collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth handovers of new projects. This role also involves strategizing for landscape enhancements, managing budgets, and contributing to conservation initiatives.
The position is best suited for individuals with strong horticultural knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for working outdoors in a dynamic and meaningful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Assistant Vice President and Manager in overseeing horticulture operations to meet landscape design goals.
- Provide guidance to Horticulture Officers to ensure tasks are completed on time and with high quality.
- Collaborate with HR, Animal Care, and Development Teams for transition planning and ranger support.
- Work closely with landscape contractors and consultants for defects identification, inspections, and handover/takeover processes.
- Manage daily ground operations and liaise with stakeholders and contractors to ensure contract specifications are met.
- Develop and present proposals for landscape enhancements, conservation projects, and upgrades.
- Conduct design reviews of exhibits, aviaries, and back-of-house areas with cost analysis.
- Analyze expenditures, propose budgets, and explore digitization initiatives for productivity.
- Monitor contractor performance, record observations, and suggest productivity improvements.
- Prepare requests for quotations and tenders in collaboration with Procurement, including cost-benefit justifications.
- Create PowerPoint presentations and reports for meetings.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as required by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Degree or Diploma in Plant Science, Botany, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Forestry Science, or Environmental Science/Management.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience for degree holders or 10 years for diploma holders.
- Certification as a Certified Practicing Horticulturist or ISA Certified Arborist is an advantage.
- Familiarity with SESAMi and SAP systems is beneficial.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder management.
- Proactive, independent, and comfortable working outdoors.
- Strong planning ability with ownership of projects and urgency in meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays on a rotation basis.
