Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist will be part of Esco Aster’s Quality Assurance (QA) team at the Ayer Rajah facility in Singapore. Reporting to the Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager, the role involves supporting GMP operational activities, product development, and product release.
The specialist will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Food Safety Management System (FSMS), ISO 22000 standards, and Singapore Food Agency (SFA) guidelines. This includes reviewing manufacturing records, administering deviations and CAPAs, conducting audits, and liaising with third-party labs for testing. The position also requires driving continuous improvement programs and contributing to Esco Aster’s mission of delivering safe and innovative cultivated food solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute FSMS protocols to support batch release and audits.
- Review manufacturing batch records, reports, and prerequisite program documentation.
- Manage deviations, investigations, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Compile and analyze statistical quality data for client updates and project reports.
- Support reference standards review and release of incoming materials.
- Conduct internal audits and assist during regulatory and customer inspections.
- Prepare and send samples for third-party testing.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and cleanroom practices through training and inspections.
- Liaise with external labs to meet food safety testing requirements for novel food.
- Contribute to new project setup and process development during the facility’s start-up phase.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in a relevant discipline.
- 1–3 years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing, livestock farming, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Singapore Food Regulations and flexibility to adapt to evolving standards.
- Knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, and food safety systems.
- Preferably certified in Food Safety Level 3.
- Experience with SFA and/or US FDA/USDA regulatory frameworks.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with discipline and motivation.
- Background in cellular agriculture or novel food will be an added advantage.
