Job Overview

As a Welder/Fabricator, you will play a key role in supporting fabrication and automation-related projects. You will be responsible for producing high-quality fabricated components by following technical drawings and specifications while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. This position offers the chance to work on heavy structural fabrication for both residential and commercial projects, either independently or as part of a skilled team.

This is a permanent full-time role with a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week, offering remuneration between $30 and $40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the fabrication team with heavy structural welding and fabrication tasks
  • Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings accurately
  • Cross-check design specifications before cutting or fabrication begins
  • Fabricate and assemble metal components according to drawings and project requirements
  • Operate and maintain workshop equipment, including welders, benders, and general machinery
  • Perform cutting, welding, and assembly work safely and efficiently
  • Carry out quality checks throughout the fabrication process
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and to a high standard
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in welding and fabrication, or
  • A Level 4 qualification or higher in welding, fabrication, or a related trade

Additional requirements include:

  • High level of competency across general fabrication tasks
  • Strong ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned jobs
  • Confidence in reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Physically fit, with the ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices
