Transocean is currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused Welder Job in Mexico to join its Offshore Maintenance Group in Mexico. Key Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication Duties
- Perform welding, cutting, burning, brazing, and fabrication work as directed onboard the vessel
- Prepare materials, equipment, and work sites for welding tasks
- Fabricate and fit structures, tools, and mechanical equipment
- Inspect welded joints for defects, correct penetration, bead formation, and compliance with specifications
- Carry out repair and maintenance work using welding and cutting techniques
Operational & Maintenance Support
- Maintain welding equipment and conduct daily inspections
- Ensure sufficient welding consumables are available
- Assist other departments with maintenance duties when required
- Obtain necessary permits before performing welding or cutting operations
Safety & Compliance (HSE)
- Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards
- Participate in safety meetings, drills, and emergency response exercises
- Conduct risk assessments and apply control measures before tasks
- Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Requirements
- High School Diploma or relevant trade certificate
- Welding certification (NS-EN ISO 9606-1 or equivalent where applicable)
- Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates
- Trade school or technical education preferred
- Military discharge certification (preferred for U.S. applicants)
- Must meet offshore regulatory requirements including Norway Havtil standards (if applicable)
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in welding, cutting, and metal fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and layouts
- Knowledge of welding equipment, oxy-acetylene cutting, and grinding tools
- Strong understanding of offshore safety practices and hazard control
- Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions (heat, dust, offshore climate)
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work long hours offshore and respond to emergency situations
